Kol Israel Haverim Headquarters Move to Mikve Israel
Kol Israel Haverim headquarters completed their move to the Mikve Israel Agricultural School Campus early in June this year. The move marked a significant and historic return of Alliance – Kol Israel Haverim to one of the most important places and institutions founded by the organization.
The headquarters are located in the Beit Hamitmachim building, part of the Mikve Israel Visitors Center that includes Mikve Israel's vineyards, its impressive synagogue, the Teachers House and the Botanical Garden, one of Israel's finest. Beit Hamitmachim was once home to young people who immigrated to Israel from Europe during the latter third of the 19th century and sought to work in agriculture. Mikve Israel provided them with professional training and with innovative methods and tools.
The renovation of Beit Hamitmachim was an exceedingly complicated process. The need for the building's conservation was determined as severe, and the process involved complex architectural and engineering challenges, as well as high construction costs. The conservation and restoration process dealt with the delicate mural paintings located in the offices on the lower floor, remarkable wooden beams that support the entire structure, a wooden floor on the second storey, doors and windows that surround the building on all sides, and original building stones.
Numerous partners share the success of the restoration project, including the RASHI Foundation, the Sabah Association, Alliance – Kol Israel Haverim, the Mirage Foundation, the Israel Land Administration and the Ministry of Interior's Central Region Planning Bureau.
