Platform for Young People involved in Culture, Art, and Social Initiatives
Many young people in Jerusalem are involved in culture, art and social initiatives, but don't find a framework which allows them to express themselves. These young people are a wonderful resource for renewal in Jerusalem, and their professional development will have a major impact on the city as a whole.
The 'Kerem - Kol Israel Haverim' Institute, a green and magical space in the center of the city, invites Jerusalem's young people to the Jerusalem Young People's House, and, together with the students, to develop a unique and open space for cultural and social initiatives.
A few weeks ago there was an open evening where many students and young people came to prepare arts and arrange different workshops which will open after Hannukah.
At the beginning of the event the crowd was transformed into a percussion orchestral; everyone received a professional or improvised instrument, and, under the direction of Yitzhak Vinkor (student at the institute and creator of the musical workshop 'Between Music and Connection'), took part in an evening musical session featuring complete harmonies around the piano which stood in the center of the room.
During the second part of the evening, the participants divided into three groups; each group got to try a different workshop.
The Empowerment through Theater Workshop opens a window to an exciting and experiential world, guaranteeing personal and group nurturing through theater. The workshop is run by Tzahala Michaeli from the Jerusalem Theater Group.
Photography Workshop – its goal is to consolidate a dynamic workgroup which creates a framework for discussing new ideas and directions for photography, to try different genres of photography and to create a personal workgroup. The workshop was led by Gabi Hamburg Fima, a graduate of the institute, a photographer and artist. People looking to develop their knowledge and expression in photography are invited to join.
The third workshop is a writing workshop led by Yehuda Gizbar, a Jerusalem creator, literary critic with 'Makor Rishon', and leader of writing workshops. The workshop is for anyone looking for time to write, feedback, enrichment, and an attempt to look at the world.
The Jerusalem House, which will soon acquire its new and official name, continues to operate and to organize cultural events and meetings, and to give a platform to new and youthful initiatives. The upcoming program includes meetings between different sectors, art classes, musical performances, workshops and more.
